When fires rage in this world, there are those who step up at a moment’s notice to put them out. These heroes are volunteer firefighters, and they keep our communities safe.
Creating a better way of life for communities is at the core of who we are at Gate City Bank, especially when it comes to supporting emergency response personnel. So when local team members learned that the Wahpeton (ND) Fire Department needed 53 new protective helmets, we donated $14,000 to cover the cost.
“We’re so incredibly thankful for all those who serve with the Wahpeton Fire Department,” says Mike Turchin, Gate City Bank Retail Manager. “These brave volunteers protect our community every day, and we’re proud to provide them with these state-of-the-art protective helmets, which will help keep them safe on the job.”
The Wahpeton Fire Department operates out of two stations with 40 volunteer firefighters, serving an area of 20 square miles. In addition to donating protective helmets, Gate City Bank has supported the department through multiple fundraisers throughout the years, such as sponsoring community fish fries and bull-riding events.
