FARGO, ND – The need for elderly transit and delivery programs continues to grow throughout the region, so Valley Senior Services was floored when Gate City Bank helped add two new rides to its fleet.
Since 2019, Gate City Bank has donated $50,000 to Valley Senior Services, an organization that has helped senior citizens throughout the Red River Valley maintain their independence since 1971. The bank is proud to support this local nonprofit – because its mission drives home an important message:
“Maintaining independence for our beloved seniors is crucial to creating a better way of life,” says Kevin Hanson, Gate City Bank President & CEO. “We’ve been so thankful to give back to Valley Senior Services over the years, providing monetary donations and team member volunteers to support the important role it plays in our communities.”
Gate City Bank’s funds have covered nearly the entire cost of two brand-new vehicles, growing Valley Senior Services’ Meals on Wheels and Metro Senior Ride fleet to 31. In turn, these joint initiatives have been better equipped to deliver nutrition, dignity and love to more than 1,400 seniors every day.
Valley Senior Services’ transportation programs benefit people age 60 and older in Cass, Traill, Steele, Ransom, Richland and Sargent counties – especially those who are home-bound and unable to prepare their own meals. Whether it’s nutritious home-delivered meals, groceries or transportation to doctor’s appointments or errands, the vehicles help connect seniors with the resources and care they need.
Supporting Valley Senior Services has been an absolute joy ride for Gate City Bank. Team members are thrilled to be able to help yet another nonprofit that’s making a difference in many communities.
“Valley Senior Services is a cause that’s near and dear to so many of our team members, and we’re incredibly honored to lend them a helping hand,” says Amanda Torok, Gate City Bank Senior Vice President of Culture. “After all, our wonderful senior citizens are among those who have lifted us up throughout our lives – now we’re so happy for the opportunity to do the same for them.”
