I used my debit card at a merchant and it requested my personal identification number (PIN). Is this required?

We’re happy to shed some light on this! Generally, your PIN is not required when performing a point-of-sale (POS) purchase at a merchant. You can usually sidestep this by electing “Credit,” or simply tell the merchant you’d like to elect the credit option to avoid entering your debit card PIN.
